Majestic Theater Sets 2016-17 Season

After an exhilarating year of celebrating the Majestic Theater' 90th Anniversary, how could anyone top the excitement and fun that was had by all at the Majestic? Well, Jeffrey W. Gabel, Founding Executive Director of the Majestic Theater can and did with his new line-up for the 2016-2017 season! Celebrate this fabulous line-up as "Mr. Majestic" announces that tickets go on sale at 12 noon on June 10 (members-still time to join) and June 17 (general public).

The season kicks off with the Majestic Theater's sponsorship of the July 4th Gala Pops "Free" Concert on Saturday, July 4th at the Memorial Field, Gettysburg College. Celebrate America's 240th birthday with The Willys and the Gala Pops Orchestra and Fireworks immediately following the concert at 9:30 p.m. Bring blankets, lawn chairs and picnics! Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Venue and Concessions (open at 5pm), The Willys (6 - 7:30pm) & Gala Pops Orchestra (8:30-9:30pm). (Rain Date: Tuesday, July 5th).

On Wednesday, July 20 @ 7:30p.m., rock 'n roll with ST. PAUL & THE BROKEN BONES, an electrifying soul septet from Birmingham, Alabama. Seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, this unique sounding group makes its Central PA debut with a sweat-soaked, gutbucket, horn-infused brand of Muscle Shoals / Stax-influenced R&B, fronted by Paul Janeway, one of the most charismatic lead singers since James Brown.

The Majestic proudly presents America's first-ever, NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE -LONDON WEEKEND FESTIVAL (3DAYS, 6 PLAYS, 12 SCREENINGS) September 9-11. See all 6 titles or select your own individual shows including; War Horse, Frankenstein (Benedict Cumberbatch), The Audience (Helen Mirren), Hamlet (Benedict Cumberbatch), A View from the Bridge (Mark Strong), and One Man, Two Guvnors (James Corden). Screenings will be held in Cinema One & Two so limited tickets are available.

Broadway comes to Gettysburg on Saturday, September 24 @ 8:00p.m., with a new national tour of FAME - THE MUSICAL. Take a full-throttle journey traversing the struggles, fears, and triumphs of young artists navigating the worlds of dance, music and theatre that is based on the Academy-Award-winning film and Emmy Award-winning television series.

On Wednesday, October 19 @ 7:30p.m., journey to the land of white-sand beaches, swirling cigar smoke, and swinging music with the acclaimed HAVANA CUBA ALL-STARS in their American debut tour. This exciting 16 piece band brings the Cuban vibe to life with rhythmic drums and castanets, wailing trumpets, masterful acoustic guitar, and amazing vocals.

Gettysburg College's Department of Theatre Arts and the Sunderman Conservatory of Music proudly showcase its students in, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT REALLY TRYING, on November 3-6. Big business means big laughs in this delightfully clever lampoon of life on the corporate ladder. A tune-filled comic gem that took Broadway by storm winning both the Tony Award for Best Musical and a Pulitzer Prize with an exhilarating score by Frank Loesser.

Totem Pole Playhouse's A CHRISTMAS CAROL returns to the Majestic, December 8th-18th with 12 performances featuring over 40 actors, singers and dancers. The whole family will enjoy Charles Dickens' beloved story and will discover the true meaning of Christmas.

In celebration of Beatrix Potter's 150th birthday, the award-winning Enchantment Theatre Company brings to life PETER RABBIT TALES on Sunday, January 22nd. Using fantastic masks, whimsical puppets, gorgeous scenery, this magical, marvelous world will delight children of all ages.

On Friday, February 10th @ 7:30p.m, the handsome and talented VILLALOBOS BROTHERS, use their violins and voices to redefine contemporary Mexican music. Their original compositions masterfully blend elements of jazz, rock, classical and Mexican folk to deliver a powerful message of love, brotherhood and social justice.

Celebrate St. Patrick's Day early with THE FIVE IRISH TENORS on Wednesday, March 8th @ 7:30p.m., who combine Irish wit and boisterous charm, with lyricism, dramatic flair and operatic style to bring you a unique concert experience. Their tuneful program includes "Toora - Loora - Looral," "My Wild Irish Rose," "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," "I Hear You Calling Me," "Danny Boy" and "God Bless America.

The whole family will thrill to the daredevil displays of the GOLDEN DRAGON ACROBATS on Friday March 31@ 7:30p.m. With traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and theatrical techniques, they present a show of breathtaking skill and spellbinding beauty.

IN THE MOOD returns to the Majestic on Friday, April 7th @ 7:30p.m., with its fully staged tribute to Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and all the big band greats of the '40s. Complete with costumes and choreography, the show pays homage to America's greatest generation, when people boogied to up-tempo big band rhythms and slow danced to intimate ballads.

COLIN MOCHRIE & BRAD SHERWOOD close the season on Friday, May 12th @ 7:30p.m. Armed with nothing but their sharp wit, these comedians take to the live stage to create hilarious and original scenes in their two-man show. Known by TV audiences for their work on Whose Line is it Anyway? Colin & Brad improvise new material every night from audience suggestions and participation. Get ready for a night of non-stop laughter for all ages!

Tickets go on sale at 12 noon on Friday, June 10th for members (there is still time to join) and Friday, June 17th for the general public.
