Gettysburg Community Theatre (GCT) the not-for-profit 501c3 community theatre located at 49 York Street in historic downtown Gettysburg, will present their 10th Annual Gala Some Enchanted Evening 7-11pm Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the home of Michael and Jane Rice in New Oxford. This year's event will include fine food from Artistic Catering of York, a silent and live auction, open bar for beer and wine, and live entertainment from Broadway star Jessica Hendy.
Jessica Hendy just closed the recent Broadway revival of CATS. She is the only person that has the distinction to have been in the original Broadway production of CATS, the National tour, and the Broadway revival. Her other Broadway credits include the original CATS (Grizabella, final cast), AIDA (Amneris), and AMOUR. She made her Radio City Music Hall debut in The New York Spring Spectacular, alongside the world famous ROCKETTES.
The annual Gala is GCT's one major fundraiser of the year and proceeds support the many educational and performing opportunities of GCT including it's free after-school program, Penguin Project theatre production starring youth with special needs/disabilities, Senior Citizen outreach program, and more. Tickets to the Gala are $100 per person for this black tie optional event and should be ordered in advance through GCT.
"In all our programs, we rely on our mission statement to implement our vision," says President of GCT's Board of Directors, Ed Riggs, "and give opportunities for performing, learning, and enjoying theatre as a community of patrons, actors, musicians, volunteers. Young or old, we are all special, and we learn to appreciate the value and abilities of all through Gettysburg Community Theatre."
While in town, April 14th, NYC Guest Artist Jessica Hendy will teach two master classes in musical theatre at GCT for children, parents, and adult singers to register in advance. Ms. Hendy will coach singers on stage at GCT while registered attendees observe. Only 80 spots available at the master class which will include photo/autograph/Q&A session for those that register. The two-hour master classes are $22 per person (student or parent). They are scheduled for April 14, 2018 1-3pm for ages 8-12 and their parents and 3:30-5:30pm for ages 13-18 and their parents and for adult singers. Attendees will learn tips of musical theatre singing/acting that will help them at their next audition or show. Registration is open online, and space is limited.
