Irish Christmas in America returns to the Ware Center on Tuesday December 8, 7:30 p.m., with a group of fantastic musicians playing joyful instrumentals and a host of dazzling numbers. This hugely popular, family-friendly show, now in its 11th season, features evocatively-sung Irish ballads, lively instrumental tunes, and thrilling Irish dancing in an engaging performance rich in history, humor, and boundless energy. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

Produced by fiddler Oisín Mac Diarmada of award-winning Irish group Téada, the 2015 tour brings back the amazing vocalist and accordion-player Séamus Begley (TG4 Traditional Singer of the Year), along with the talents of singer and flutist Teresa Horgan. Other performers include: Sean Gavin on the flute and Uilleann Pipes, Grainne Hambly on the harp and concertina, and Samantha Harvey on the piano, who will also dance.

Producer Mac Diarmada enthuses about the program as a way to bring traditional and often unknown Irish customs to the U.S. "One of the most heartfelt themes of Irish Christmas is emigration," says Mac Diarmada. "Music was a way that people stayed close to home."

Tickets are reserved seating: $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for MU and Visiting Students with valid IDs at a ticket office or at the door. Tickets can be purchased online at ArtsMU.com, in person at the Ticket Office located in the Student Memorial Center on Millersville's campus, or at the Ware Center, located at 42 N. Prince Street, in Lancaster. Doors open one hour before each show for ticket sales, subject to availability.
