Hershey Area Playhouse is proud to present the first-of-its-kind Kids' Cabaret on New Year's Eve, Saturday, Dec. 31, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. A pre-show reception, featuring a carnival style raffle of fun packages and prizes will begin at 2 p.m., followed by the show, beginning at 3 p.m.
The Kids' Cabaret will feature local, young talent of over a dozen students, singing fun medleys and favorite standards from classic shows and movies. The show will consist of an opening and closing group number as well as solo, duet and small group numbers in between.
"Done in conjunction with The Playhouse's Theater Academy, the Kids' Cabaret is designed to showcase the next generation of live theater while fundraising to keeping our Playhouse open so they have a place to perform," said Jennifer Feldser, president of The Playhouse board.
Tickets for the Kids' Cabaret are $25 for adults and $15 for students. Tickets are available by visiting www.HersheyAreaPlayhouse.com or by calling The Playhouse's box office at 717-533-8525.
The Kids' Cabaret is the seventh Dark Night Series production The Playhouse has hosted this year. The Playhouse adopted the term "Dark Night," a term used by theatres when there is not a performance scheduled, as part of a vision to incorporate a wider variety of entertainment to complement its five mainstage shows. The Playhouse relaunched its Dark Night Series in 2016, bringing additional entertainment options, including different, edgier content shows to its mainstage. Several Dark Night Series productions are already planned for The Playhouse's 2017 season.
