Concluding its fall series performances for the young, the Ware Center's FAM FUN FEST presents Elijah Morton's Hip Hop Happy Show, Saturday, December 14, which features hip hop dancing, poetry, demonstrations and workshops. Pre-show, hands-on activities for the kids start at 10 AM.

This third installment of a series of seven performances for the young is a fabulous family-friendly hip hop show featuring the much-awarded Elijah Morton's CONstruct (the competitive, professional dance team) and Under CONstruct (the junior company) dance companies. They recently won the Platinum Award at the 2013 Turning It Up Dance Challenge, the highest recognition given in the hip hop professional dance community.

Prior to the show, FAM FUN FEST Director, Barry Kornhauser, has created some wonderful, interactive, hands-on activities for kids under the age of 12. The pre-show activities are being created by a dozen local groups including the North Museum's "The Science of Sound and Movement," Lancaster Country Day's "Paint-Your-Hat|Wear-It-Backwards" and Martin Elementary School's "Kid's Magic." Other activities are planned by FIG magazine, Lancaster Public Library, Members 1st Federal Credit Union, and Power Packs. And, Elijah's Dance Company will be on hand before and after the show to teach the young ones (and their parents) how to "get down" using some hot hip hop dance moves in demonstrations and workshops.

Elijah Morton started dancing at the late age of 21. Growing up in the foster care system made things increasingly difficult for Elijah and it wasn't until he found his outlet in dancing that his life took a turn for the better.

In 2006, he found his calling as a choreographer, helping teach at a charity organization in Carlisle, PA. Since then, Elijah has been developing his craft in the art of hip hop dance with various professionals and teachers around the country. Elijah is now Owner, Assistant Director and Competition Director/Choreographer of his own hip-hop dance studio here in Lancaster: Morton's Dance Center (MDC.)

He also coaches a competition dance team that competes on regional and national levels. About a year ago, they auditioned for America's Got Talent and successfully made it through three rounds of auditions. This gave them the drive to perform over 60 Shows since that time.

Throughout his dance career, Elijah has received numerous dance scholarships, awards and trophies. His choreography has been dubbed as "Most Entertaining" and "Flawless" all across the east coast.
