The Board of Directors of Gretna Theatre is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Kurtas as the organization's new Executive Producer.
After celebrating a historic 90 years as one of the country's oldest summer theatres, Kurtas will now lead Gretna Theatre through its next phase of growth. Producing its professional theatre season in only the summer months, Gretna's plans include expanding educational programming in order to offer workshops, classes, and touring outreach shows for schools during the rest of the year.
Board President William Christ says, "Brian brings a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of theatre operations and will be a great asset to the Gretna Theatre."
A native of Lancaster, PA and a local Manheim Township graduate, Brian returns to the area having already started this month. He brings 10 years of experience from New York and Philadelphia, coming directly from Walnut Street Theatre, America's oldest and one of her most successful non-profit theatres. There, he is credited as the Casting Director for over 50 plays and musicals and for assisting the Producing Artistic Director in shaping the programming for over 50,000 subscribers. He has also been producing commercials and live corporate events throughout the east coast, and is a member of the Casting Society of America.
Speaking of his appointment, Kurtas said, "This is truly a homecoming for me. I am just as excited about Gretna Theatre now as I was when I was a child coming to see shows here. I am coming home to an organization with such a rich history having been a part of the early careers of Bernadette Peters and Charlton Heston, and I hope to build on that into the next 90 years, ensuring Gretna Theatre remains one of central Pennsylvania's most popular summer destinations. We are prepared to serve the community better than ever by providing so much more than stellar entertainment! I am inviting everybody to come see what is new with us this summer at the theatre in Mt. Gretna."
