Gettysburg Community Theatre, the non-profit 501c3 organization located in the original Elks Lodge building at 49 York Street within the first block of Lincoln Square in historic downtown Gettysburg, will present the hilarious musical comedy Nunsense: the mega musicalon Fridays and Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 2pm April 21-May 7, 2017. The little sisters of Hoboken are putting on a show to raise money to bury four nuns from their convent that their chef, Sister Mary (Child of God) accidentally poisoned with soup. The surviving nuns present a musical revue full of laughter and silliness including an infomercial for their cook book "Baking with the B.V.M."! GCT's production of Nunsense is directed by Pamela Hurlbert and music directed by Vanessa Rice who also leads the live band on stage. This cast is comprised of local volunteer performers all ages 55+. Seating is limited as the theatre only seats 80 so advance ticket orders are encouraged. All tickets are $18 plus tax/fees.
"Nunsense is a really funny show", says GCT Founding Executive/Artistic Director, Chad-Alan Carr. "I have directed and choreographed it a couple of times before and it always makes me laugh when people see it for the first time, but it is just as funny seeing it for the 20th time too and you do not have to be Catholic to enjoy the humor of singing and dancing nuns."
Coming this May, GCT will present the children's play Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs on Friday and Saturday at 7pm and Saturday and Sunday at 2pm May 12-14, 2017 starring 31 local children PreK-4th Grade directed by Ann Walsh and costumes designed by student designer Linden Carbaugh from Fairfield High School.
Tickets are now on sale to all shows and can be purchased online at www.GettysburgCommunityTheatre.org or by calling 717-334-2692 with credit card, or by visiting the box office with cash, check or credit card during box office hours Noon-5pm Tuesdays-Fridays at GCT.
