Fulton Theatre-Associated Artists Among Barrymore Award Nominees

On August 15, the nominations for the 2011/2012 Barrymore Awards-which highlight excellence in theatre in the Philadelphia region-were announced, with several nominations related to the Fulton Theatre and its associated artists.
 
God of Carnage, a co-production between the Fulton Theatre and The Walnut Street Theatre, received a Barrymore nomination for Outstanding Ensemble. That ensemble included Julie Czarnecki, Ben Lipitz, Susan Riley Stevens, and Greg Wood, who returns to the Fulton as Herbie in the upcoming production of Gypsy. Additionally, the Fulton's Artistic Director, Marc Robin, directed and choreographed the Walnut Street Theatre's production of The King and I, which received several nominations, including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical.
 
Other Fulton-associated artists who received nominations include Manna Nichols (Kim in last season's Miss Saigon) for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Musical for The King and I at Walnut Street Theatre, as well as Mary Martello, who received two nominations, for both Leading Actress (The Wilma Theater's Body Awareness) and Supporting Actress (Arden Theatre Company's August: Osage County). Ms. Martello will play Mazeppa in the Fulton's upcoming production of Gypsy.

This year marks the 18th annual Barrymore Awards, recognizing excellence in theatre and increased awareness in the greater Philadelphia theatre community.
