Looking for a way to get yourself and the family into the holiday spirit? Look no further than DreamWrights' holiday run of A Seussified Christmas Carol.
Bah humbug! You think you know the story of old Scrooge? Well, you don't know this version. Guest Director Amanda Nowell said there's something for everyone - from fun costumes for the kids to a lot of adult humor, rhymes and puns for, of course, the young at heart.
This production is double-cast with about 90 people ages 7 and up in both companies. As a testament to the fact that Nowell believes this is a great show for families, she noted there are several families in the show. There are three husband and wife pairs, including Nowell and her husband. And the Properties Crew leaders have children who are also working behind the scenes.
"Even though it's wacky and zany, it's a twist on the classic message," Nowell said. "It's the same conversation about forgiveness, compassion, family and the true meaning of the holiday shines through."
It's also a short show, so families can enjoy and get home before bedtime. "Adults and kids will get joy and fun out of it," Nowell said.
A Seussified Christmas Carol opens Dec. 7 and runs through Dec. 22. Tickets are $11 for general admission, $15 reserved. Tickets can be purchased at DreamWrights.org or by calling the box office at 717-848-8623. The show on Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. will be a sensory-friendly one. The Dec. 15 show at 3 p.m. will include a touch tour and be audio described.
