When asked what has been the most challenging part of directing this script, Tim replied, "Two things: the quick pacing and short scenes. The scenes need to flow very quickly, one to the other. It would be much easier to do this script as a movie. But the fast pace eliminates long waits for scene changes. An additional challenge is the character of Anne. She has a lot of depth to her and such a wide range of emotions, often within the same page of the script. The emotions that she feels and the rapid pace at which those emotions change are very typical of a child who is in a foster/adoptive home. I am hoping we can bring her character to life so that people can really connect with her on a deep level."
Anne of Green Gables is a timeless classic adapted from the novel by L.M. Montgomery. Anne, who travels from an orphan asylum in Nova Scotia, must figure out and navigate a whole new world on Prince Edward Island - a world filled with new expectations, misunderstandings and complicated relationships. Storey and his wife also became foster parents this past year. As a new foster parent, witnessing children making this transition in his own life affirms Tim's deep respect for Anne and her ability to adapt to her new world with an enthusiasm for life that sometimes can be lost in times of uncertainty. Regardless of what Matthew and Marilla (or the Storeys) thought they were getting into, love for a child comes unexpectedly and completely. Anne of Green Gables is a story about finding family in both expected and unexpected places. Come join us and see what surprising and meaningful connections are made among "new and old kindred spirits."
Tim hopes that the play reminds people to really enjoy life and not take things too seriously or to lose their imaginations. Anne has such an immense love for life. She enjoys every new moment she experiences, every new person she meets, and every new place she explores. As Anne quotes the poet Robert Browning, "God is in his heaven, and all's right with the world."General admission tickets are available for $10.00 and reserved seating tickets are available for $14.00.
