DreamWrights Center for Community Arts will be kicking off the public phase of its $2.5 million Capital Campaign with an exciting Community Event on June 30, 2016 from 6 - 9pm. This open house event features collaboration and celebration with talented community partners throughout the DreamWrights building. Food and refreshments will be available. No ticket or RSVP is necessary and this event is free and open to the public.

The purpose of the kickoff event is twofold: to inform the general community about DreamWrights capital campaign and to introduce the community to the changes on the horizon for DreamWrights as a result of the campaign.

The diverse lineup of entertainers at the kickoff event is representative of the differing types of programming that DreamWrights hopes to offer and partner with in the future. Not only will DreamWrights be showcasing some of its own talent (a short performance from Legally Blonde, SEUSSICAL, As You Like It, StAGEs over 55 improv troupe, ballroom dancing, and sculpture and drawing), but also acts including The Belmont Theatre's The King and I, a showcase from Weary Arts Group, and a short performance from The Complete Works of William Shakespeare...Abridged. Live music will include short sets from the hometown talents of Kingsfoil, Joel Menchey, The Brendan Malloy Quartet, and Devix. The YWCA Temple Guard Drill Team, First Capital Drumline, and the First Capital Fife and Drum Corps will also perform. Dance entertainment will be provided by Greater York Dance, Crone& Crone Ballroom Dancing, and the York Social Dance Club. Other performers include Magician Timothy Storey and White Rose Fencing Club.

Food trucks and refreshments will include Mad Dash Concessions, Forno Bova Pizza, Savory's Pumpkin Funnel Cakes, York City Pretzel Company, The Beer Ace, The Handsome Cab, and The York Water Company will be serving "that good York water" and lemonade.

For the most up-to- date list of performers and food vendors, please visit dreamwrights.org and click on "Kickoff Event."

In addition to entertainment and food, DreamWrights will also be offering building tours. With the capital enhancements scheduled to begin in January 2017, this may be one of the last public opportunities to check out the vintage, historic building that was formerly a sewing factory and a market house.
