This December, DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre will bring the beloved holiday classic, Miracle on 34th Street, to life for 12 performances: Dec. 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 6:30 p.m.; Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22 at 2:30 p.m.

With 140 performers, crew members, musicians and other volunteers ranging in age from 7 to 67 years old from across the Central PA region, this Broadway musical version of this classic holiday story will be told by two casts and feature a full orchestra.

When Kris Kringle is hired to play Santa at Macy's department store, his joyous spirit and magical ways begin to transform non-believers like young Susan and her mother. Could he be the real Santa? When Kris begins to refer customers elsewhere for just the toys their children want, Macy's management team plots to have him declared incompetent and admitted to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital. Will the court confirm Kris as the true Santa and save Susan's newfound belief in the miracle of Christmas?

The show will be presented in an "Alley Theatre" format with five stage areas built by the cast and crew under the guidance of Bob McCleary, DreamWrights' new Technical Director. In this special production, nearly all cast and crew members appear in front of the audience as part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which will march straight through the audience, complete with clowns, Rockettes, Mother Goose and her nursery rhyme friends and Santa and his eight Reindeer.

The show features over 30 first-time performers and crew members as well as seasoned actors, including two Santas. First-time Santa, Matt Redman, 48, from Camp Hill and Steve Brown, 67, from Hanover are both growing out their beards in anticipation of their important role.

"Miracle on 34th Street is an iconic story and our presentation will provide an experience the entire family can enjoy together," said Diane Crews, Artistic Director of DreamWrights. "Everyone knows the movie, but few have ever seen the Broadway musical. We welcome everyone to start a new holiday tradition and join us to celebrate the season with an unforgettable story of the power and magic of believing in the holiday spirit."
