Fresh and fun spring classes are sprouting at DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre. With themes like Cosplay, emotions exploration, Shakespeare, stage combat, technical theatre, and acting out beloved children's stories, DreamWrights spring classes offer something for everyone.

In the Acting Out - Stories Alive class, participants will have fun with characters that will have them exploring new vocabulary and acting out basic story lines. Young learners will have fun interacting with stories while developing literacy skills and learning the basics of action play in the social setting of their peers. Participants will be encouraged to explore and act out several popular Dr. Seuss stories.

Say hello to the voices inside your head in the Emotions Exploration class. Joy, fear, disgust, anger and sadness are emotions that everyone experiences, including many characters that actors portray in theatre. Inspired by a recent popular animated film, this class will develop participants' awareness of the link between inner emotions and outside behavior, as well as expand their vocal and physical abilities to play characters driven by differing emotions at a variety of intensity levels.

Use the "force" and become a Jedi Knight of the Stage in DreamWrights' new Interstellar Stage Combat class. Participants will be introduced to basic hand-to-hand stage fighting moves, including break falls, punches, slaps, knaps and kicks in a safe, controlled environment. Use lightsabers to discover the choreography from a famous science-fiction movie battle! Students will also learn how to incorporate acting techniques into fight sequences in order to make them more believable for an audience.

The Shakespearience - a Shakespeare performance comedy class will explore Shakespearean text with the body, voice, mind and imagination, learning how to play with verse effectively in order to communicate with an audience and portray the intriguing characters presented in the comic play. The class will culminate with a performance of a 30 minute version of one of Shakespeare's famous comedies. Beginner and experienced players are both welcome!

DreamWrights' resident Technical Wizard, Bob McCleary, will take you on a magical journey of creation through computer animated set projections in the Technical Magic class. From virtual scenery that gives the appearance of movement over great distances to flapping wings of animatronic creatures and from the depths of the ocean to the center of the jungle, the technical effects are nearly endless in the world of stage craft.

In Cosplay Uncovered, participants will work with a Cosplay artist and designer to build the beginnings of their favorite comic persona. Each week will have a different focus including character selection and planning, props creation, basic costuming, and makeup.

DreamWrights' spring classes begin on March 5 and run for four Saturday mornings. The Shakespearience class begins March 2 and runs Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings from March 2 - April 9.
