Civic Theatre will launch its 2014-2015 main stage season with the Lehigh Valley premiere of Mel Brooks' monstrously funny musical, "Young Frankenstein" on Friday, October 10 with performances through Sunday, October 26. Civic's Artistic Director William Sanders directs. Gwen Swanson-Vigorito and Sanders serve as co-choreographers. Steve Reisteter serves as musical director. All performances will be held at Civic's historic Nineteenth Street Theatre at 527 N. 19th Street in Allentown. Special discounted tickets are available for performances on opening weekend. A wickedly inspired re-imagining of the Frankenstein legend based on Mel Brooks' classic comedy masterpiece, "Young Frankenstein" follows the story of Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of the infamous monster-maker, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, who leaves his madcap fiancé, Elizabeth, in New York and travels to Transylvania to wrap up his grandfather's estate. Once there, with the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor, and a beautiful lab assistant, Inga, he unexpectedly finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors -- but not without scary and quite often hilarious complications.
"Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein: The Musical," which made its Broadway bow during the in November 2007 and ran for nearly 500 performances, features music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan.
Set design is by Jason Sherwood. Will Morris serves as costume and lighting designer. Wig and hair design is by Kim Danish. Emily Heller is production stage manager.
The cast features Jarrod Yuskauskus as Frederick Frankenstein, Eileen Veghte as Elizabeth, Morgan Reilly as Inga, Bob Trexler as the Monster, and Roseann Damico Schatkowski as Frau Blucher. The company also includes Connor Harrison, Gianna Beleno, JoAnn Basist, Kate Varley, Kirk Lawrence-Howard, Kristen Sehn, Kristen Stachina, Marie Ann Sutera, Nina Attinello, Pamela Westphal, Patrick Mertz, Reese Diaz, Robert Stinner and Ted Williams.

Free parking for the shows is available along liberty and Allen Streets near 19th Street and in the Wells Fargo Bank parking lot at 19th and Liberty (after the bank is closed).
Ticket prices range from $20-$31. Special discounted tickets are available for opening weekend performances on October 10 and 11. All performances are at 7:30 pm, except a special matinee on Sunday, October 26 at 2 pm. More information is available on the Civic Theatre website.
