The Ware Center in downtown Lancaster opens its doors again for this September's First Friday on September 4 from 6 - 8 pm. The community is welcome to enjoy free music, art, and film. The Ware Center is located at 42 N. Prince Street, Lancaster.

FREE Music | Adam Blessing:

Adam Blessing will be performing on the Fine Living Lancaster First Friday Music Stage. He was born and raised outside Lebanon, Pennsylvania behind a town called Cleona. Around the age of seven he began playing guitar, and never stopped. It was not until he turned 18 that began to play in live situations, as a backup musician and vocalist. For the last five years, Adam has particularly enjoyed writing and developing his own original material. As of late, Adam has opened for such acts as Ed Kowalczuk, The Thriving Ivory, Jon Mclaughlin, George Stanford and Denison Witmer. The Ware Center's First Friday Music Stage is sponsored by Fine Living Lancaster.

FREE Art Exhibit | Gretchen Kibbe:

Gretchen Kibbe discovered art in a drawing-for-non-majors class at her liberal arts college, St. Olaf in Minnesota. Since then, she has been a scenic artist and set designer, worked on the restoration of the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, and had a business designing and executing faux finishes and murals. She earned her MFA and taught design, drawing, painting and art history at the college level.

Artist Gretchen Kibbe adds, "This past year I have been able to access my creative energy to find great delight in manipulating pigments and in the process have uncovered several themes; boats tossing on the sea, birds, aspects of worship/devotion/shamanism, the hunter and the prey. These themes are metaphors for how I am constructing meaning in my life to embrace the fractures that my depression causes, and to come to terms with my past and present. These paintings are a gift to me; I hope they can be gifts to you." (Exhibit continues through September)
