VIDEO: Latest HAMILTON Parody Honors OKLAHOMA!'s 'Ali Hakim, Peddler Man'

If someone took the time to count, if might be determined that the opening number of Lin-Manuel Miranda's national sensation HAMILTON has been the most parodied song of the past year and a half.

Even before the musical's original Broadway cast recording was released, the initial video of its author/star performing "Alexander Hamilton" at the White House Evening of Poetry, Music, and the Spoken Word in May of 2009, made the intricate selection available for potential parodists.

Some have been extraordinarily clever, such as this effort from Jason Kravits, rapping of the short administration of America's 9th President, William Henry Harrison. Another brilliant turn was by Elaine Carroll, adjusting the lyric to honor German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

But the cast members of the recently concluded Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival production of Rodgers and Hammerstein's OKLAHOMA! used the number to tell the tale of a fictional immigrant who did his best to get the job done, peddler man Ali Hakim.

Matt Ban plays the lonely traveler with a talent for salesmanship and a weakness for ladies.

With book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical direction and orchestrations byAlex Lacamoire, Hamiltonis based on Ron Chernow's biography of Founding Father AlexanderHamilton.

HAMILTON is the story of America's Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation's first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B, and Broadway, Hamilton is the story of America then, as told by America now.

HAMILTON's creative team previously collaborated on the 2008 Tony Award Winning Best Musical In The Heights.

HAMILTON features scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, and casting by Telsey + Company, Bethany Knox, CSA.

The musical is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater.

The Hamilton Original Broadway Cast Recording is available everywhere nationwide. The Hamilton recording received a 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theatre Album.
