The Red House Arts Center in Syracuse, NY enthusiastically presents a 1950s-inspired production of Euripides' Media, translated by Diane Arnson Svarlien and directed by Stephen Svoboda, tonight, October 29, to November 7.

Set to songs, sounds and visuals of 1950s America, this bygone era brings new life to the classic Greek tragedy. In her picture-perfect neighborhood, Medea is the ideal housewife and mother. Armed with a delectable, homemade pie in one hand and a deadly kitchen knife in the other, Medea exacts revenge against her cheating husband in a most calculated and maniacal fashion.

Rounding out the cast of principles are Adam Perabo (Jason), Heather McNeil (Nurse), Jason Tarbox (Tutor), John Bixler (Creon), Chad Tallon (Aegeus), David Cotter (Messenger) and Daejhor Huddleston and Isiah Myers (Sons). The chorus of housewives include Shelley Cooper, Binaifer Dabu, Alicia Frame, Rachel Grage, Katishma Grey, Erin Lafferty, Marguerite Mitchell, Kasie Pavlov, Lauren Puente, and Junko Yasuda.

Media features choreography by Erin Lafferty, set and properties design by Andrea Ball, lighting design by Chuan-Chi Chan, sound design by Anthony Vadala, costume design by Nikki Delhomme, and musical composition by Patrick Burns.
