All programs take place at APEC (unless otherwise noted) which is located at 228-06 Northern Blvd., Douglaston, NY 11362. FEE: for each session $10 per adult member, $12 per adult non-member, and $7.00 for children ages 7-12 (includes handout information packet)

Understand and appreciate the mystery and beauty of the universe with astronomer Mark Freilich. In September view Jupiter, Saturn, the Plietes Star Cluster, the Orion Nebula. These programs comprise an indoor lecture on basic astronomy and outdoor viewing with a professional telescope.

NATIONAL ESTUARIES DAY FESTIVAL

Please join Alley Pond Environmental Center for a festival to commemorate our local estuary - Little Neck Bay and meet members of your neighborhood historic, health service, recreational, civic associations, school groups and government organizations.

Hike along our own unique and beautiful estuary trails, listen to live music, visit educational booths and exhibits from neighborhood organizations, and participate in children's activities and crafts. Bring the whole family to enjoy FREE activities, entertainment, hands-on demonstrations, crafts, fun games, boat and canoe rides!

Come to APEC for a close-up look at live insects and the animals who eat them! Activities include a craft and a bug sorting game that teaches kids how to identify true insects from a confusing array of critters. Snack included. Participants must be toilet trained

Children's Nature Photography for Ages 6-11

Children will be introduced to the basics of composition and nature photography rules while using disposable cameras. During the first class they will practIce Their newly acquired skills, taking photographs during a nature walk on APEC's trails. During the second class the children will create frames to mount their favorite pictures. Film developing and all materials included. Limited to 10 participants.

Young Chefs - Apple Crepes for Ages 7 - 11

APPLE SEASON! During this program children will learn about a variety of apples and the many different ways people eat them. Then our young chefs will prepare their very own tasty "apple crepes". All materials included. Limited to 8 participants.
