The Redhouse Arts Center is pleased to announce its 2015/16 MainStage season filled with eight unforgettable shows! The season opens with the delightful adventure Big Fish, a bigger than life musical that tells the story of a traveling salesman with a huge heart, enormous spirit, and an extraordinary vision of the world. This will be followed by Medea, the ancient Greek tragedy with a contemporary twist characterizing Medea as a wife and a mother in 1950's America. December will kick off with the popular musical Dreamgirls which follows the story of a female singing group from Chicago called "The Dreams" as they become musical superstars. The new year will feature Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods; meet Cinderella, Rapunzel, Jack in the Beanstalk, and many more of your favorite fairytale characters as they journey together to learn that getting what you want in life comes with great responsibility. Into the Woods will run in rep with A Midsummer Night's Dream, arguably one of the most magical plays ever written. Spring will feature Redhouse Ruhls! featuring two plays by acclaimed playwright Sarah Ruhl. The first is Passion Play which takes us behind the scenes of three communities attempting to stage the death and resurrection of Christ. The second is Eurydice, a play in which Ruhl reimagines the classic myth of Orpheus through the eyes of its heroine. Redhouse closes its season with the award -winning musical Ragtime which depicts an African-American family, a Jewish immigrant family, and a wealthy suburban WASP family in turn-of-the-century America as the pursue the American Dream.
