"Legally Blonde: The Musical" opens at Merry-Go-Round Playhouse as part of the Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festivalon June 26 in Auburn, N.Y.
This high-energy song and dance extravaganza is a musical comedy based on the 2001 hit movie of the same name. Director/choreographer and Merry-Go-Round Playhouse favorite Josh Walden is at the helm of this show, which also features Broadway actors Libby Servais, Christopher Carl and Leslie McDonel as well as many returning Playhouse veterans. Lighting designer for the show, Paul Miller, also designed the lighting for the original Broadway and tour productions of "Legally Blonde: The Musical," in addition to 25 other Broadway shows.
In this Playhouse production, the Chihuahua, known as Bruiser in the show, is the dog from the original Broadway production. Bruiser is a rescue dog and is housed and trained by William Berloni, the leading provider of animals in the entertainment industry. Berloni won the 2011 Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre and has provided and trained animals for more than 35 Broadway productions and more than 100 Off-Broadway productions.
