Joe Gulla's "The Voice" will play Därkhorse Drämatists' "200 Miles Off-Broadway" Festival on Friday, May 12th and May 13th at the Cider Mill Playhouse in Binghamton, New York.

Written by Gulla and directed by Tony Yajko, "The Voice" is set amidst the high-powered New York City art and museum scene. Actor/model Milan shows up at an audition to be "voice talent" for a Museum of Modern Art audio tour. Nervous at the outset, Milan soon proves to the casting director (and some very wealthy patrons of the arts!) that he has "a gift".

Gulla says of his play, "Milan goes into the audition and is asked to read copy describing a very famous painting by Barnett Newman. The painting is titled, "The Voice". Turns out, Milan is a natural voiceover artist. Moreover, his voice has an intense and powerful effect on anyone that hears it - an instant and very sexual effect! The Museum of Modern Art Starts to get a lot of VERY INTERESTING phone calls! Ha!"

What's next for Joe? The playwright states, "My play, "GARBO" will be presented at The Cherry Lane Theatre on May 9th. It is a 2017 Downtown Urban Arts Festival selection! We sold out a few hours after tickets went on sale! I'm incredibly proud and excited! Also, this summer, we begin casting for the New York City run of "GAY.PORN.MAFIA", my collection of nationally produced, award-winning short plays!"

Joe Gulla won the 2016 Downtown Urban Arts Festival "Audience Award" for the performance of his play "The Bronx Queen" at Joe's Pub at The Public Theater. This past October, the Dramatist Guild presented a staged reading of his play, "GARBO", as part of their Friday Night Footlights series. Directed by Brian Rardin, "GARBO" is a comedy/drama that recounts the playwright's years living in the Trastevere section of Rome, Italy.
