Hangar Theatre continues it's 39th Mainstage season tonight, July 25th with the regional premiere of 4000 Miles, a critically acclaimed comic drama by celebrated new playwright Amy Herzog.

The winner of the 2012 Obie Award for Best New American Play, the 2012 Lucile Lortel Award, and the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award, 4000 Miles was also named TIME magazine's #1 Play of 2012 and was a finalist for the 2013 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Starring Susan Blommaert (Broadway's Grease, Showtime's The Big C) as Vera and Robbie Tann(Troublemaker at Berkely Rep, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer at Actors Theatre of Louisville and The New Victory Theatre in New York) as Leo with emerging artists Paton Ashbrook and Jeena Yi to round out the cast.

The Hangar production runs tonight, July 25-August 3. For tickets and information, call 607.273.4497 or visit www.HangarTheatre.org.

The touching and humorous story follows Leo, a 21-year-old tree-hugger from Seattle who bicycles across the country and winds up, unexpectedly, at the doorstep of his feisty grandmother's New York City apartment. Over the course of their reconnection, we discover their conflicting politics and the fragile connection they share between growing up and growing old. When Leo's ex-girlfriend shows up, the unusual events of his journey begin to unfold.

Director Shana Gozansky states, "4000 Miles is as much about overcoming grief as it is about reaching across great distances, be they miles or decades, to find shelter in the storm and a safety that allows one to confront oneself. Leo and Vera become each other's life rafts, and this transcending of generations speaks to the core of the human experience. No matter our age, we still need the love of family and friends, and we still possess the ability to grow."

Tickets range from $20 to $43 and can be purchased online at www.HangarTheatre.org, by phone at 607.273.4497, or in person at Ticket Center Ithaca located on the Downtown Commons in addition to at the Hangar Theatre Box Office one hour before curtain time. The recently renovated theatre is located at 801 Taughannock Blvd, Ithaca, NY 14850.
