Geva Theatre Center to Present THE CLEAN HOUSE, Opens 10/13

GeVa Theatre Center's 2009/10 Season continues with THE CLEAN HOUSE by Sarah Ruhl, which opens on October 13 and runs on the Mainstage through November 8.

In CLEAN HOUSE, Lane wants her and Charles' life - and house - clean, but doesn't want to take care of it herself. The maid prefers to spend her days devising the perfect joke. When Charles falls out of love with Lane, magical things begin to happen. Cleanliness is not always next to happiness.

Sarah Ruhl is one of the hottest young American Playwrights. She gained worldwide recognition for The Clean House which was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2005. Her play Eurydice was produced at NY's Second Stage Theatre, Yale Rep, Berkeley Rep, Georgetown University and Circle X Theatre. Passion Play opeNed Washington's Arena Stage in 2005 and was subsequently produced at the Goodman Theatre and Yale Rep. It will make its New York premiere in 2010. Dead Man's Cell Phone premiered at Washington D.C.'s Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company in 2007 and had its NY premiere at Playwright's Horizons in 2008 starring Mary Louise Parker. In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play) premiere at Berkeley Rep earlier this year and is scheduled to open on Broadway on October 22. Ms. Ruhl's other plays include Orlando, Late: A Cowboy Song and Demeter in the City. She is a recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship.

Geva's production of THE CLEAN HOUSE features Anne-Marie Cusson as Lane who last appeared at Geva in Our Town and Inherit the Wind and Judith Delgado as Ana who most recently appeared at Geva as Sister Aloysius in Doubt. Making their GeVa Theatre Center debuts are Lynne McCollough as Virginia, Tuck Milligan as Charles and Tania Santiago as Matilde who is also making her regional theatre debut.

The Clean House is directed by Emma Griffin who returns to Geva where she has directed the 2006 and 2007 productions of A Christmas Carol and Five Course Love. The design team includes Jo Winiarski (scenic designer), Jessica J. Trejos (costume designer), Raquel Davis (lighting designer) and Lindsay Jones (sound designer).

The Clean House is co-produced by Buckingham Properties, Dorschel Infiniti, Time Warner Cable and Zimmer Sales and Services.
