FRI, MARCH 3, 2017 @ 8PM | TICKETS $27/$20 | DANCE
The fourth season of Dance Off The Grid at the Emelin Theatre premieres on March 3rd. Each of the three evenings of this eclectic performance series is curated by Andrea Snyder, Co-Director of American Dance Abroad, and features several different world-class artists and companies surveying the diversity of today's dance landscape. The season premiere this March features three such incredible artists. Rashaun Mitchell + Silas Riener bring an exciting vision for the future of the art form. After working together in the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Mitchell and Reiner began collaborating to push the boundaries of dance, with a focus on how abstraction and representation coincide in the body. The evening's program continues with the post-Graham artistry of RIOULT Dance NY. An established name in modern dance, RIOULT's mission is to present the sensual, articulate, and exquisitely musical works of founder and choreographer Pascal Rioult. The third artist to perform is the powerful, athletic, and incredibly contemporary Bessie Award-winning Souleymane Badolo. Born in Burkina Faso and based in Brooklyn, dancer and choreographer Souleymane "Solo" Badolo explores the delicate balance between maintaining roots and beginning again. As always, the audience is invited to stay after the program for an insightful Q&A session with the choreographers and the dancers to learn more about what inspires their work.
Two more Dance Off The Grid events are scheduled this Spring. On April 7, see performances by Dance Theatre of Harlem, Max Pollak RumbaTap and Palissimo. The season finale on May 12 features 10 Hairy Legs, New York Theatre Ballet and Trisha Brown Dance Company. Subscriptions to all three Dance Off The Grid events are available at a savings of 10% off the ticket price. See more: http://www.emelin.org/event/dance/dance-grid-6

A prolific performer - in comedy, on Broadway, on television and in film - Klein says stand-up is his passion. Honest, self-questioning and contagiously funny, his unique brand of observational humor and gift for satirical social criticism has inspired an entire generation of headliners like Ray Romano, Jay Leno and Jerry Seinfeld. A lifelong New Yorker, Klein makes his home in Westchester and New York City. Growing up in an apartment complex in the North Bronx, he had always aspired to live in Westchester. "I wanted a 'Leave It to Beaver' kind of house with a backyard," he quips, "I always wanted to say, 'Ma, I'm going out' instead of 'Ma, I'm going down.' Come see Westchester's own, at the Emelin.
