THE EMELIN FILM CLUB: FALL 2017 SESSION
WEDNESDAYS @ 7:30PM: SEP 27 | OCT 4, 11, 25 | NOV 8, 15 | FILM

Emelin Film Club, a "Best of Westchester" winning program resumes for its thirteenth season this Fall, with six new critically-acclaimed films from around the world specially selected by club programmer David Schwartz, Chief Curator at the Museum of the Moving Image. Each session's picks span a wide range of genre and subject matter including foreign language and documentary film, like last season's A Man Called Ove (2017 Oscar Nominee for Best Foreign Film) and I Am Not Your Negro (2017 Oscar Nominee for Best Documentary Feature), as well as dramas, biopics, comedies and animated features. Members enjoy a Q&A after each film with Mr. Schwartz and special guest(s). The intimate Emelin Theatre is equipped with a new, state-of-the-art digital projection and Surround Sound system, has easy access to parking, and offers snacks and beverages including beer and wine.

SIDELINE

Headed by IIIrd Tyme Out banjo player Steve Dilling, Sideline has recruited some of the the most respected sidemen in bluegrass to create an A-tier band, including Jason Moore, Skip Cherryholmes, Nathan Aldridge, Brad Hudson and Troy Boone. A traditionally rooted contemporary bluegrass band, Sideline plays songs you love. Some are bluegrass classics, some are destined to be classics, and all of are performed in a way that makes audiences understand why these pickers and singers are loved and adored by fans around the world.

Rickie is both a character in her songs, and the songwriter singing, defying convention with her sometimes brazen sexuality and The Mixed Bag of jazz, rock and what has come to be known as 'confessional' songwriter performances. CHARLIE ALBRIGHT

The acclaimed pianist returns to the Emelin after sell-out performance last year. Hailed as "among the most gifted musicians of his generation" with a "dazzling natural keyboard affinity" who "made quite an impression" by the Washington Post, American pianist/composer/ improviser Charlie Albright has been praised for his "jaw-dropping technique and virtuosity meshed with a distinctive musicality" by The New York Times. Recipient of the prestigious 2014 Avery Fisher Career Grant and 2010 Gilmore Young Artist Award, Albright won the 2014 Ruhr Klavier Festival Young Artist Award presented by Marc-André Hamelin (Germany) and the 2009 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. The event will also include a moderated discussion with the artist.

Grand finalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" Cory Kahaney, brings her "comedy with a slight edge" to the Emelin stage. Cory is every woman. Mother, daughter, wife... ex-wife. She recently appeared on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert," was a hit on the 2016 season of "America's Got Talent" and was featured in Catskills on Broadway. She has performed on "The Late Show with David Letterman," appeared a record seven times on "The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and many episodes of "Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher." Cory is also a regular on "The View," "Fox & Friends" and "The Moms." No stranger to reality shows, she has appeared on "America's Funniest Mom," "Next Food Network Star" and even "The Apprentice!"
