The Gibson Brothers | $40
Oct 21, 2011 @ 8 pm
In 2010, upstate New Yorkers Eric and Leigh Gibson's recording of the song "Ring the Bell" won IBMA awards for Song of the Year and Gospel Recorded Performance of the Year. The Gibson Brothers continue in the classic bluegrass tradition of close-harmony brother duets, adding exceptional songwriting, superb musicianship and terrific stage presence. Their return to the Emelin stage starts the 2011-12 bluegrass series off with a bang!

J.D. Crowe | $40
Dec 9, 2011 @ 8 pm
It's impossible to overstate how much J.D. Crowe has influenced bluegrass music since he first came to prominence as a young member of Jimmy Martin's Sunny Mountain Boys. Not only is he one of the most influential banjo stylists ever to pick the five, he has long been recognized as one of the most musically adventurous bandleaders that bluegrass has ever had. Truly a bluegrass legend, J.D. and his band The New South combine the best of hard-driving, traditionally rooted bluegrass with a thoroughly modern musical sensibility.

Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike | $38
Feb 17, 2012 @ 8 pm
Without a doubt one of bluegrass music's most energetic, powerful and personable performers, Valerie Smith and her excellent band, featuring fiddler and songwriter Becky Buller, return to the Emelin for the first time since 2001. There's an old-time feel to Valerie's music that belies her ability to find exceptional songs by today's best writers. Her vocal duets with Becky can be wistful, emotional, funny, and, often, hair-raising. It's a treat to have her back at the Emelin in 2012.

Monroe Crossing | $36
Mar 9, 2012 @ 8 pm
From the heart of Minnesota to the Emelin stage comes Monroe Crossing, one of the most crowd-pleasing bands in bluegrass. As their name suggests, the band's musical influences range from Bill Monroe and other bluegrass pioneers to Motown. From their striking period attire to their unique vocal and instrumental arrangements, Monroe Crossing put on one of the best shows in bluegrass today.

The Grascals | $40
Apr 20, 2012 @ 8 pm
IBMA Entertainers of the Year in 2006 and 2007. IBMA Banjo Player of the Year in 2008, 2009 and 2010 (Kristin Scott Benson). Personality that overflows the stage, with vocal and instrumental chops to spare. What more is there to say? Who else but the Grascals!
