Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is pleased to announce five different productions at its two locations during the month of February:

Back by popular demand after 4 sold out shows in Rochester, The Uncle Louie Variety Show will return to the Downstairs Cabaret February 1-10. This comedy team has been taking the Italian-American communities by storm. They've been making people laugh for years with their characters and sketches that bring back memories of growing up Italian. Their world tour began in February 2018 in Australia and will make a weekend stop In Rochester for 2 weekends of laughter. In 2018 they sold out all of their Rochester performances, so advance reservations are strongly recommended. The performances will be hosted by NBC's contestant from "The Voice", Austin Giorgio. The two-hour laugh-fest will take place at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, 3450 Winton Place, Brighton-Henrietta: Friday, February 1 at 8:00pm, Saturday, February 2 at 8:00pm, Friday, February 8 at 8:00pm, Saturday, February 9 at 4:00pm and 8:00pm, Sunday, February 10 at 3:00pm

Tickets are $30 for priority reserved table seating and $25 for general admission platform seating (note: no discounts are available and Downstairs Cabaret gift certificates are not valid for this production).

Rochester Folkus continues its second year of folk, traditional, old-time, bluegrass, and other acoustic music presentations on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of every month (with occasional exceptions). The featured group on February 13 is Whorlwood, with Perry Cleaveland (mandolin, fiddle, and vocals), Michael George Gonzalez (guitar and vocals), and Doug Henrie (upright bass). Following the feature set, there is an opportunity for local performers to offer a song if they wish. Upcoming events include: Michelle Younger (March 13), Peg Dolan with Sharon McHargue (April 10), Shady Rill (April 24), Howie Bursen (May 22), and more to be announced. The two-hour concerts take place at Downstairs Cabaret Theatre, 20 Windsor Street, Rochester, and tickets are $10 general admission.

Patrick Dewane returns February 22-23 with what has become a DCT audience favorite: The Accidental Hero, the true story of a WWII officer who liberates the same Czech towns where his grandparents lived. Matt Konop had grown up speaking Czech on a farm in Wisconsin, ashamed of his humble background. Thrown into Omaha Beach during WWII, he became a hero in the Battle of the Bulge. Then his story took a turn from yet another soldier's tale to something more epic when he was given the dangerous assignment to go behind enemy lines into Czechoslovakia. His life would never be the same, as one coincidence after another brought him face-to-face with his identity. What once was a source of shame became his greatest pride as the people of his grandparent's hometown hailed him as their "liberator." Told with rare color movie clips from WWII, vintage music and photos, The Accidental Hero is a multi-media delight that has captivated audiences across the country. The 90-minute performance will take place at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, 3450 Winton Place, Brighton-Henrietta, and is followed by a talk-back with the performer: Friday, February 22 at 8:00pm, Saturday, February 23 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $25 general admission (discounts available for seniors age 60+; groups of 10 or more; full-time students; military personnel; and current Downstairs Cabaret members). WWII veterans are admitted free of charge with our gratitude for their service.

Patrick Dewane will also perform his new play, The I-Won't-Be-Home-For-Christmas Club, February 23-24. Strange things happen out on the road. Particularly at Christmas. A local WWII soldier, dressed as St. Nick, brought Christmas back to the children of war-torn Wiltz, Luzembourg, and 30 years later it changed his life. Another soldier at war found pure peace in the middle of a battle, while children stuck at the Mayo Clinic found magic in a Christmas visit. The three stories echo the first Christmas, where they weren't home for Christmas either. Rochester's own Richard Brookins is featured in this heartwarming and surprising new show.

His life was changed by his act of kindness in war, a reminder we never really know how we impact others. The 90-minute performance will take place at Downstairs Cabaret at Winton Place, 3450 Winton Place, Brighton-Henrietta, and is followed by a talk-back with the performer: Saturday, February 23 at 8:00pm, Sunday, February 24 at 3:00pm

Tickets are $25 general admission (discounts available for seniors age 60+; groups of 10 or more; full-time students; military personnel; and current Downstairs Cabaret members). WWII veterans are admitted free of charge with our gratitude for their service.
