Cortland Repertory Theatre is announcing upcoming events for the fall months, most to be held at "CRT Downtown" located at 24 Port Watson Street in historic downtown Cortland. "This is our second year-round season, and we're planning more events than last year, with a wide variety to appeal to all tastes," Producing Artistic Director Kerby Thompson says. "Even though the summer is winding down, we've been keeping busy planning for the fall and winter months. We're very excited about what is coming next!"

To kick off the fall, on Thursday, September 22 CRT will host the first of a series of TRIVIA NIGHTS, starting at 7:00 PM. All ages are invited to test their knowledge on sports, movies, pop culture, music and more. Teams are comprised of 4 people, and there is a $5.00 admission per person. A beer/wine cash bar will be available. A second Trivia Night is scheduled for Thursday, November 10, also at 7:00 PM.

On Saturday, September 24 at 7:30 PM, CRT welcomes SUNY Cortland graduate and professional COMEDIan Kelly MCDONALD for a hysterical evening of stand-up comedy. Coming all the way from Los Angeles for his first appearance in Cortland, Kelly will recount his comical childhood in Geneseo, his even funnier college experiences at SUNY Cortland (Class of '74), and, alas, the "adulting" life topics of marriage, parenthood, travel and the constant struggle to keep up with a fast-changing world. As seen on "The Tonight Show", Kelly's comedy is smart, clean and observational (with a dash of music) that is hysterical for all ages. A beer/wine cash bar will be available. Tickets are $20.00 in advance and $25 at the door.

For the final 2016 event at the Little York Pavilion, CRT offers the 5th annual LITTLE YORK FALL FIBER ARTS FESTIVALon Saturday, October 8 from 9:00 - 5:00 and Sunday, October 9 from 10:00 - 3:00. This unique event is one-stop shopping for knitters, weavers, spinners, craft enthusiasts of all kinds or anyone who is looking for that special holiday gift. Over 30 vendors from 5 states will offer knitting, spinning and felting supplies, plus blankets, shawls, pelts, winter clothing, jewelry, pottery and much more. On display on both floors of the Pavilion, this event also offers lunch for sale by the CRT Guild. Admission is $5.00; children under 12 are free.

In October, CRT invites audiences to get in the Halloween "spirit" with an evening of two one-act plays, performed on the same evening. The first is THE RECEPTIONIST, an intriguing dark comedy by Adam Bock. In "Corporate America", Beverly works at the Northeast Office, dealing effortlessly with ringing phones, her daughter's dramas and her colleague's romantic troubles. But the appearance of a charming representative from the Central Office disrupts her friendly routine. As the true nature of the company's business becomes apparent, provocative questions are raised about the truth - and consequences - of secrets. The second one-act, THE BIRDS, is a psychological thriller by Conor McPherson, adapted from the short story by Daphne Du Maurier. The story that was the basis for Alfred Hitchcock's classic film has been boldly adapted as a gripping, edge-of-your-seat stage play. In an isolated New England house, strangers Nat and Diane take shelter from relentless masses of attacking birds. When another refugee, the young and attractive Julia, arrives, paranoia takes hold and becomes an internal threat to match that of the birds outside. Broadway's Shaun Peknic returns to CRT to direct after helming last summer's "Sherlock Holmes and the West End Horror", and serving as Associate Director for the Tony-Award winning musical "Once" on Broadway. Performances are October 12 - 15 and 19 - 22 at 7:30 with matinees on October 16 & 23 at 2:00 PM. Adult tickets are $32.00, students and seniors are $30.00.

On October 28, CRT presents GHOULS NIGHT OUT, a community costume ball and dance party from 7:30 - 11:30 PM. Following in the footsteps of their successful New Year's Eve Dance last year, CRT invites the whole family to dress up for Halloween and boogie down to the greatest hits of the 1970's thru today. Prizes will be given for Best Costumes, and a beer/wine cash bar will be available. Tickets are $10.00 in advance, $20.00 at the door. 18 and under are $5.00 at all times.

Next up is a sequel to a hit comedy CRT introduced to Cortland last fall, when LATE NITE CATECHISM 2 comes to town. "Sister" strikes back in this hysterical performance that is part catechism class, part stand-up routine that puts you, the audience, right in Sister's catechism class. Yes, she understands...sometimes we feel guilty. That's usually because we ARE guilty! A beer/wine cash bar will be available. Performances will be held on Friday, November 4 at 7:30 and Saturday, November 5 at 2:00 and 7:30. Tickets are $32.00 for adults and $30.00 for seniors and students.

Following the second Trivia Night on November 10 at 7:00 PM, next on the schedule is the return of one of Cortland's favorite performers, Todd Meredith - UNPLUGGED. For one night only - Saturday, November 19 at 7:30 PM - join CRT's "Buddy Holly" and fellow guitarist Jeremy Renner in an intimate acoustic evening of great music. These two talented musicians will perform original songs plus favorites by Buddy, Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Billy Joel, James Taylor and more. It will be seeing and hearing Todd in a whole new light. A beer/wine cash bar will be available. Tickets are $32.00 for adults and $30.00 for seniors and students.

More events are planned for the entire month of December, including PHOTOS WITH SANTA in his Winter Wonderland onDecember 3 & 4, a children's show rendition of THE STORY OF EBENEZER SCROOGE on December 10, the hysterical one-elf show THE SANTALAND DIARIES on December 16 - 18, all wrapping up with the second annual DANCIN' THRU THE DECADES NEW YEAR'S EVE BASH!
