Cortland Repertory Theatre Downtown is pleased to present one of the most sought-after comics in the country, Gilbert Gottfried, Friday, May 12 at 7:30 PM for one night only. Gottfried is known for his adult, raunchy but brilliant comedy. CRT Administration cautions that this evening is not for those who are easily offended, but does mention that tickets are going fast!

At the young age of 15, Gilbert Gottfried began doing stand-up at open mike nights in New York City, and after a few short years became known around town as "the comic's comic." Over his impressive career, he has been a regular on Saturday Night Live and The Celebrity Apprentice, and has made numerous appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, David Letterman, Late Night with Seth Myers, Conan, The Comedy Central Roast, and Howard Stern. In addition to his glowing reputation in Comedy Clubs and talk shows, Gottfried is also known as the king of quirky roles in both movies and television, appearing in Beverly Hills Cop II, Problem Child I & II, Look Who's Talking, Too and The Adventures of Ford Fairlane. He was also the host of the popular late night movie series USA Up All Night, and had a recurring role on Law and Order SVU as TARU tech Leo Gerber.

After his stellar performance as the wise cracking parrot "Iago" in the Disney classic Aladdin, Gottfried became one of the most recognizable voiceover talents, lending his voice to several commercials, cartoons and movies, including the frustrated duck in the AFLAC Insurance commercials. Gottfried also is the voice of DIGIT in the long running PBS Series Cyberchase as well as the Comedy Central series The Annoying Orange, the voice of the horse on Family Guy, Mr. Mxyzptlk in the new Lego Batman 3 - Beyond Gotham video game, and Abraham Lincoln in A Million Ways to Die in the West.

As a famed comic's comic, Gottfried puts aside political correctness in his live performance and fires an onslaught of jokes that know no boundaries. Again, CRT warns that Mr. Gottfried's humor leans to the raunchy side and audience members should take that into consideration before purchasing tickets.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door, and are available at CRT Downtown, 24 Port Watson Street in Cortland, online at www.cortlandrep.org, or by calling 800-427-6160. Seating is cabaret style and a beer/wine cash bar will be available.
