Blackfriars Theatre, a not-for-profit, professional theatre on East Main Street's "Theatre Row," is proud to announce the opening of the Stephen Sondheim classic, "Sunday In The Park With George."

25 years ago, Blackfriars was one of the first theatres outside of New York City to premiere Stephen Sondheim's "Sunday In The Park With George." In a radically interpreted new production, our Artistic Director, John Haldoupis revisits Sondheim's masterpiece, specifically designed for our new thrust stage. The musical chronicles the story of painter Georges Seurat's efforts as he struggles to complete his masterpiece, An Afternoon On The Island Of La Grand Jatte.

Friday , August 5, 12 - 8pm
Sunday, July 31, August 7 - 2pm
Thursday, August 4, 11 - 7:30pm.

A special seminar with John Haldoupis, Blackfrars' Artistic Director, and director of this production will be held on Monday, July 25, at 7pm at Blackfriars Theatre. He will be discussing what it took to transform this production to meet the needs of our Main Street theatre, and how things have changed since our original production 25 years ago at the Xerox Square auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
