Blackfriars Theatre, a not-for-profit, professional theatre on Rochester's East Main Street "Theatre Row," today announced the opening of "The Little Dog Laughed," a comedy by Douglas Carter Beane.

This recent Broadway hit follows the adventures of young Hollywood heartthrob Michael Green who could hit it big if it weren't for one teensy-weensy problem: his agent, Diane, who can't seem to keep him in the closet. Ben Brantley of the NY Times noted,

"Using the movie business for target practice may seem like an old game at this point. What, after all, could MR. Beane contribute to the sport that hasn't been provided already by movies like "The Player" or the television series "Entourage"? The answer is an expressly theatrical energy that finds the verbal music and rhythm in Hollywood-style hypocrisy."

"The Little Dog Laughed" stars Kerry Young (Diane), Marc D'Amico (Mitchell), Jamal Abdunnasir (Alex), and Mary Tibali (Ellen)

This production is directed by David Runzo, Asst. Director is George Barberi, set and costume design by John Haldoupis, lighting design by Ted Plant, and stage management by Jackie Amigone.
