Due to popular demand, Downstairs Cabaret Theatre is pleased to announce a 1-Week-Only Extension of: BETWEEN YOU & ME: POP, ROCK & ROLL FOR YOUR SOUL featuring DCT audience favorite Jenn Cristy, January 18 - 21, 2018. A former backing artist and multi-instrumentalist for Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame inductee John Mellencamp as well as an international touring artist, Jenn Cristy brings her amazing vocal style and virtuosic keyboard talents in this eclectic show. Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Janis Joplin, Tina Turner, Cyndi Lauper, and Billy Joel are just a few of the great artists that will be honored in this fabulous production. She consistently receives standing ovations for her high-energy, blow-the-roof-off performances and will be accompanied by some of Rochester's finest musicians in a sizzling hot 5-piece band. During two consecutive performances last week, she received no less than FOUR standing ovations!
Now with six solo albums, JENN CRISTY began her career with John Mellencamp, meeting the Hoosier rocker in Bloomington, IN, where she was in the midst of an all-American swimming career at Indiana University. During her stint with Mellencamp's band she proved her versatility, playing flute, piano, percussion, organ, and violin in addition to singing. When she embarked on her solo career in 2003, she wanted to create a sound that both honored all of her varied influences - from Ben Folds to Pink and Bruce Hornsby to Queen - while creating something decidedly original. Cristy has played around the country, sharing the stage with a veritable who's- who of artists - Shawn Mullins, John Eddie, Antigone Rising, Indigenous, Bree Sharp, Jeffery Gaines, Danielia Cotton and Michael Gabliki (Rusted Root) - or dominating it herself. Her songs have earned praise everywhere from blogs and small-town newspapers to The New York Times. In addition to Jenn's original music career, she is also co-owner of One Pulse Entertainment, where she is both behind the scenes and on stage for several of these productions, wearing all hats - performer, singer, instrumentalist, songwriter, businesswoman, manager, booking agent, and more.
