The Adirondack Shakespeare Company returns to the shores of Schroon Lake for their annual Summer Festival Season. Their ambitious second season includes two comedies by Shakespeare, a contemporary spoof on Shakespeare's works, and an original production written for children.
Last year for their inaugural season, ADK Shakespeare produced As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth. These shows ran in repertory for a total of nine performances at the Boathouse Theater in Schroon Lake Village. This year, the company is more than tripling its number of performances and will be touring throughout the Adirondacks, including performances in Lake George, Long Lake, North Creek, Fort Edward, and the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, in addition to performing at the Boathouse. This year also marks the company's introduction of works specifically for children with Theseus and the Minotaur by Sean Adams.
The ADK Shakes Showcase and Meet & Greet, ostensibly hosted by Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth I herself, will support Adirondack Shakespeare Company's 2011 Summer Season. Join members of the artistic company for light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments on Thursday, July 7 at 4:00 p.m. The Showcase and Meet & Greet will be hosted by Dr. Robert and Mrs. Del McLean at their beautiful home on the east shore of Schroon Lake. The afternoon's events will include scenes from the season to be performed by the company's actors and a Silent Auction of items donated by local artists and members of the Adirondack Shakespeare Company. Items for auction include hand-made jewelry, ADK Shakespeare t-shirts, Festival Season Passes good for admission to all performances, and more. A donation of $50 is suggested to benefit the company's summer season.
To request directions and information about the Showcase and Meet & Greet or to make a donation for the Silent Auction, please contact Artistic Director, Tara Bradway at info@adkshakes.org.
