Adelphi Orchestra to Honor 2016-17 Young Artist Competition Finalists and Winners 6/11 in New York City

The Adelphi Orchestra will honor its 2016-2017 Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition finalists and past winners on June 11th at 7PM in New York City.

"Une fête en France" will feature a sumptuous program of French and French inspired masterworks as a benefit concert for the Adelphi Orchestra's Young Artist Program.

The orchestra will perform Chausson's "Poème for Violin and Orchestra in E flat major, Op. 25", Waxman's "Carmen Fantasie", Poulenc's "Sinfonietta" and Ravel's "Tombeau de Couperin under the baton of guest conductor Joshua Gerson, Assistant Conductor with the New York Philharmonic. The concert will also feature guest soloist, violin prodigy and past Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist winner, Nathan Meltzer (2015) who will perform Chausson's "Poème for Violin and Orchestra in E flat major, Op. 25" and Franz Waxman's virtuosic showpiece for violin and orchestra the "Carmen Fantasie."

The Adelphi Orchestra will honor the 2016-2017 Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition finalists and past winners in a brief ceremony.

Recognized in their respective divisions are: College: Tabby Rhee Viola, Xiaoxuan Shi Violin, Stephanie Liu Violin, Sean Yongjoo Lim Violin, Yujie He Violin, Viola Chan Flute

Seniors, Eliana Razzino Yang Cello, Clara Neubauer Violin, Mizuki Hayakawa Cello Juniors: Benedikt Winzer Violin, Enako Matsumoto Violin, Mia Kim Bernard Cello, Enrique Rodrigues Violin, Ian Maloney Cello.

Distinguished Adelphi Orchestra Young Artists include First Place winners Nathan Meltzer (2015) Ari Boutris, Violin, Ming Nga Cheung, Piano (2014); Dylan Wu, Cello (2013); Anton Rist, Clarinet, Brieuc Vourch, Violin (2012); Jennifer Choi, Cello 2010; Lindy Tsai, Cello 2009: Ethan Siegel, Violin 2008; Philo Lee, Cello (2007); Christina Hughes, Flute (2006); Daniel Baer, Piano (2005)

The Adelphi Orchestra is a professional, non-profit orchestra performing symphonic, chamber, operatic and dance concerts. For the past 13 years the Adelphi Orchestra has sponsored a Young Artist Competition and Young Artist Concerts throughout New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. On June 11, 2017 the Adelphi Orchestra will present a Gala fundraising concert, "Une Fete en France" to benefit the orchestra's Young Artist Program at New York's Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufmann Music Center.

The Adelphi Orchestra presents concerts with accomplished national and international guest soloists and distinguished conductors. Nominated by its peers for the 2016 & 2017 Jersey Arts People's Choice Award in the Favorite Orchestra/Symphony Division, the Adelphi Orchestra is a member of the League of Orchestras. It is northern New Jersey's longest continuously performing orchestra and a member of the New Jersey cultural community for 63 years. The mission of the Adelphi Orchestra is to serve the musical and educational needs of the citizens of New Jersey, with special emphasis given to families with young children, seniors and those with limited financial means.
