Broadway and movies, being so much a part of gay life, and owing so much to the gay community, offer very few songs that were specifically written for gay characters. PINKtunes showcases this proud collection of songs, and some that feel gay even if they were not written as “gay” songs to start with. Ultimately it is their beautiful music, poetry, joy, humor and emotion that make them all a universal experience, one that everyone can relate to. PINKtunes is a cabaret show that celebrates the songs that marked key moments of Arturo Padilla’s journey out, and the road that lead him to the stage at Don’t tell Mama.
Ages: Any age, provided Parents are comfortable with their children learning about the coming out process of a person and gay life in New York City over the past 20 years. People that experienced the past 20 years and that know the songs that the show is made of, will enjoy it the most.
