To commemorate the 118th birthday of celebrated poet Langston Hughes, Feinstein’s/54 Below will present a concert of the acclaimed off-Broadway musical Langston in Harlem.
Debuting at Urban Stages in 2010, and winning four Audelco Awards, Langston in Harlem is a rich tapestry of words, music, dance, and visual arts, which sets Hughes’ stirring poetry to the music of acclaimed songwriter Walter Marks.
This groundbreaking musical is filled with jazz, gospel, rhythm and blues, swing dance, and spoken-word that sings, jumps, stomps, and celebrates Langston Hughes’ glorious words of love, loss, and joy all sung by the citizens of Harlem who inspired his poetry.
