The gift was enhanced by yet another $2000 cash, courtesy of Los Angeles' Doma Theatre and the impromptu generosity of the award-winning company's Executive Artistic Director Marco Gomez who served as a judge in 2016 competition. Other gifts included a trip for two to Disney Resort's Disneyland and California Adventure in Anaheim, CA; a paid headlining engagement at Sterling's Upstairs at The Federal in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, and a VIP Luxury Suite and dinner for two at the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Universal City, CA.

Executive Producer Michael Sterling of Michael Sterling Publicity and Production and Co-Executive Producer Barbara Van Orden, have together shepherded the distinguished competition for five years; and since its creation (by Sterling in 2006/2007), more than half of the annual production's overall 180 contestants (to date) have been cast in top regional southland musical theatre shows and regional productions across the county; Las Vegas Broadway sit-down productions, major cruise line production shows, and network television shows; while 16 have already made either their Broadway or off-Broadway debuts; and/or are appearing in Broadway U.S. National Tours. Each year, an average of 50% of "all" contestants are also signed by the competition's sector of top Agents who are among a judging panel of nearly two dozen of LA's most influential Artistic Directors, Producers, Directors, and Casting Directors of Broadway musical theatre in Los Angeles and throughout Southern California.

Headquartered just outside of Los Angeles - Princess Cruises made its bow this year as Presenting Sponsor of LA's Next Great Stage Star® 2016. "Their commitment to support what is the only known musical theatre competition of its kind in the western United States (if not the entire country,) has enabled us to raise the bar in production and notoriety of the event for this very special anniversary year," says Van Orden. "I concur," says Sterling. "Add to that the consistent generosity of Barbara Van Orden, and we've been able to expand and better showcase the contestants each year on so many levels. They're young. They're gifted; and they deserve to be seen." Princess Cruises returns as presenting sponsor for LA's Next Great Stage Star® 2017. Following suit to all previous years, the 2017 competition will be judged by a live audience and an overall nearly two dozen member panel of LA musical theatre's most dynamic creative forces. Judges and audience members will vote on vocal and acting ability, stage presence and personality.
