After a yearlong hiatus, Wild Cherryz Burlesque, the seductive and captivating cabaret troupe, is returning to the stage for the New York City debut of their new burlesque show, "Arcana Lace". The 1930's inspired performance, produced & directed by creator of Wild Cherryz Burlesque Elizabeth DeGennaro, will take over the iconic Cutting Room on Nov. 22. Tickets are $20 Advance, $25 Day Of Show.
"Arcana Lace," created by DeGennaro and choreographed by Dylan Smith, infuses the themes and music from the 1930's Carnival, combining a live burlesque dance performance with a heartfelt theatrical storyline. The 75-minute show, inspired by DeGennaro's showgirl role on "Boardwalk Empire," tells the story of a lone, lost girl, titled "The Fool", seeking guidance of a fortune-teller, who reveals her fate through a series of tarot card readings. The wise crone details the protagonist's past and present triumphs over her three tormentors: her lover, mother and madame. Once the fortune-teller has revealed the young girl's story, she embarks on a vision of a future, represented by the character "The Singer". Through conquering her troubled past to obtain a successful future, "The Fool" finds, she too has the knowledge of the crone and power over her own fate.
The show's music is performed by female drummer Kaytee Doyle, Jess DeBellis on the Piano, and cast members include Jillian Lawton as "The Fool, "Laura Mallon as "The Magician," Carolina Read as "Mother/High Priestess," Jessica Treubig as "The Lover/ The Chariot," Karissa White as "The Singer," and Elizabeth DeGennaro as "Temperance/The Devil". DeGennaro not only performs in a lead role in "Arcana Lace", she serves as producer, director, costume designer, music and lightening director as well as co-choreographer.
