In 2015, after a lengthy eighteen year hiatus, New York born vocalist Wendy Scherl returned to the world of cabaret with her highly acclaimed solo show, What Do You Do All Day at Don't Tell Mama (directed by Helen Baldasarre.) The success of that show led to a string of notable singing appearances in various clubs around the city, culminating in Wendy' s triumph as the first runner up in the 2016 MetroStar search at the Metropolitan Room.

Now, in April, May and June, Wendy once again takes the stage at the Met Room in her sparkling new solo show, New SCHERL in Town. Directed by Barry Kleinbort, with musical direction by Christopher Denny, New SCHERL in Town gives Wendy the chance to explore a wide range of musical emotions as she continues her journey of self-discovery and acceptance... sharing the things she's learned along the way, admitting the things she STILL has to learn, and confirming some of the things that she believes matter most. Backed by the sterling trio of Christopher Denny on piano, Bob Renino on bass, and Rex Benincasa on drums, musical selections include her maiden foray into the realm of standards from the Great American Songbook by Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin, alongside smatterings of Bob Dylan, David Yazbeck, and William Finn.

There are also a handful of rarities from writers as diverse as Rusty McGee, Marvin Hamlisch and Moose Charlap. All of these selections are filtered through Wendy's warmly expressive vocal stylings (what Broadwayworld referred to as "a soaring, laser sharp alto,) her winning rapport with an audience and her gift for musical communication. For those of you who thought you knew the "old" Wendy Scherl, New SCHERL in Town should bring fresh perspective to those perceptions.

Performances are at the Metropolitan Room 34 West 22nd Street on April 28, May 11 and 23, and June 15 at 7pm. There is a $20 cover and a $25 food/drink minimum. Reservations can be made by calling (212) 246-0440 or by going to the club's website at www.metropolitanroom.com.
