After highly successful performances in both New York and Chicago of her cabaret show, "New SCHERL in Town", New York born vocalist Wendy Scherl is offering one additional performance on January 20th at Don't Tell Mama. Cabaret reviewers responded enthusiastically to "New SCHERL in Town" and Wendy's bracing blend of solid gold standards and choice lesser known items.

Rob Lester in Cabaret Scenes wrote: "She is lovely, in all senses of the word, and so is her show. I heartily encourage all who appreciate a heartfelt classic cabaret to get to New Scherl in Town". I'll be eager to catch her again and again."

Mark Dundas Wood at Bistro Awards concurred: "Wendy Scherl reveals herself to be an assured (and reassuring singer) who envelops you in a bubble of good will...this is a very special show from a gifted singer and a savvy performer."

Directed by Barry Kleinbort, with musical direction by Christopher Denny, "New SCHERL in Town" gives Wendy the chance to explore a wide range of musical emotions as she continues her journey of self-discovery and acceptance... sharing the things she's learned along the way, admitting the things she STILL has to learn, and confirming some of the things that she believes matter most.

Backed by the sterling trio of Christopher Denny on piano, Bob Renino on bass, and Rex Benincasa on drums, musical selections include her recent foray into the realm of standards from the Great American Songbook by Jerome Kern and Irving Berlin, alongside smatterings of Bob Dylan, David Yazbeck, and William Finn. There are also a handful of rarities from writers as diverse as Rusty Magee, Marvin Hamlisch and Moose Charlap.

All of these selections are filtered through Wendy's warmly expressive vocal stylings (what Broadwayworld referred to as "a soaring, laser sharp alto,") her winning rapport with an audience and her gift for musical communication. Sandi Durrell in TheaterPizzazz wrote: "This is an evening of good musical entertainment, so be sure to see Wendy Scherl." You have only one more chance to do so.

This encore performance will be at Don't Tell Mama 343 W 46th St on January 20th at 8 pm. There is a $20 cover charge and a 2 drink minimum. Reservations can be made by calling the club at 212-757-0788 or by going to the clubs website www.donttellmamanyc.com
