Remembering Mel pays fitting tribute to one of the most enduring singers of all time, Mel Tormé, and includes many of Mel's most popular songs, such as "Lulu's Back in Town," "Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out to Dry," "Sing for Your Supper," and a medley of Gershwin classics.
From New York to Los Angeles and everywhere in between, Warren Schein has toured in concerts and in leading singing roles on stage. He comes to us direct from a successful run in the Mickey Rooney role in Sugar Babies. He is also a voiceover artist in TV and radio commercials for such well-known advertisers as the History Channel, Nickelodeon, and A&E.
Warren Schein has a tone, range, and persona that is remarkably similar to Mel Tormé's. Warren and his duo have also embellished several of Mr. Tormé's favorite songs with some new arrangements. Mel Tormé (or "The Velvet Fog" as his fans fondly called him) demonstrated his tremendous range from jazz to big band to blues to traditional pop standards throughout a career spanning six decades. He also wrote over 300 songs. Warren's fans call him "The Velvet Mist."
Joining Warren on stage for the Metropolitan Room debut is his "team" - Albee Barr (arranger, conductor, pianist) and David Shaich (bass).
