Feinstein's/54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club, presents "Women of the World" on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:30 pm.

The show features Shoba Narayan, Carly Kincannon, Lauren Villegas and Kim Onah and showcases musical works written and composed by only women in order to bring light to the under-representation of the female gender specifically in the theater industry.

Songs to be presented include selections from The Color Purple (Brenda Russell, Alee Willis), Waitress (Sara Bareilles), Fun Home (Jenine Tesori, Lisa Kron) and from female composers like Georgia Stitt and more. Over the years, women have become more prominent in the Broadway community, but this concert hopes to point out that there is still work to be done. The night is sure to be one of wonderful music, fun and enlightenment.

The idea for the concert was conceived by Executive Producer Jacob Stuckelman, who "wanted to do a project that was socially relevant, especially in response to the current political climate." Stuckelman, a rising junior at Ithaca College, is making his NYC producing debut with this one-night only cabaret that is "very near and dear to his heart."

Director Susanna Wolk has worked on the Broadway productions of Significant Other, Waitress, and Finding Neverland and her work has been seen at Second Stage, MCC, Williamstown Theatre Festival, and American Repertory Theater. To Wolk, this concert is an opportunity to "promote gender parity and spark conversations about representation on and off stage."

The team is rounded out by Music Director Eugenio Vargas and Stage Manager TJ Lyons, also a rising junior at Ithaca. Vargas says that "these talented women and many others like them are yet another undeniable reason that anything less than the full gender equality that we fight so hard for today would be unacceptable."

"Women of the World" plays Feinstein's/54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:30 pm, with doors opening at 11 pm. There is a $15 cover charge and a 2 drink or $20 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at www.54Below.com.
