On Monday, June 16 at 9:30 PM at Joe's Pub there will be an album release party for TRUE LOVE: A Tribute to Daniel McDonald.
The Album TRUE LOVE, came about because of the untimely death of Tony nominated Broadway star
Daniel McDonald (Kander and Ebb's "Steel Pier") on February 15, 2007 -- the same day as his son Fosco's 6th birthday. Daniel and his wife Mujah came up with the idea of recording an album for posterity - a way to capture the voice that lit up Broadway – as a gift to their children Fosco and Ondina, but also to inspire all of those who listen. TRUE LOVE is an important album in that it is a concrete example of how a father faced with his own mortality took action and used what time he had left wisely. In Daniel's case, as a husband, father and actor, he bore the responsibility of doing what he could to live on in the hearts and minds of his family, friends and fans. June 16 will be a celebration of the life and music of
Daniel McDonald, as well as a benefit for the cancer charity Team Continuum, the organization that offered Daniel support and assistance when he and his family needed it the most. To learn more about Team Continuum, please go to
www.teamcontinuum.net. Special guests to be announced.
Daniel McDonald starred on Broadway in Kander and Ebb's Steel Pier, High Society and Mamma Mia!. For his performance in Steel Pier, he received Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations, and a Theatre World Award. He also starred as Valmont in Quartett at BAM's Harvey Theatre and played Michael Wiley in the national tour of Susan Stroman's Contact. His numerous TV appearances included "Law & Order," "Sex and the City," "Herman's Head," "Madigan Men" and "CSI Miami."
