Tori Scott returns to Joe's Pub at The Public Theater to let everyone know she still hasn't learned from her mistakes with her new show, Tori Scott Shame Spirals. This Garland for the Grindr era is "a force to be reckoned with" (Broadway World) and desperate to run away from her problems while celebrating her unconditional love of vodka. Direct from sold out performances in London and aboard the gay cruises of the Caribbean, Tori and her three-piece band will take you on an audacious musical journey of slurred autobiographical stories and songs she stole from other people. You're in for "an absolute thrill" (Huffington Post).
Shame Spirals is written by Scott and additional material co-written with Adam Hetrick, directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn and features musical direction by Jesse Kissel. Tickets are ($25) available online, via phone (212.967.7555) or in person at The Public's Box Office (425 Lafayette at Astor Place).
Named as "The Bette Midler of the new millennium" (Provincetown Magazine), Shame Spiral will feature the music of Lady Gaga, Queen and more as Scott navigates through her poor life choices and the realization that her longest relationship is with the ghost in her apartment. Curtis Wong of The Huffington Post describes Scott's irresistible shows as "an absolute thrill! A soul-baring singer and sharp comedian, Scott offers a musical set that bravely melds contemporary pop, standards and show tunes with woozy anecdotes that are witty, wry and engaging. Whether she's out-belting Beyoncé or reminiscing about a summer of Fire Island bar-hopping, Tori is a twinkling cabaret talent and a sassy storyteller."
In the beginning of April, Scott will launch a Kickstarter campaign to bring Shame Spirals to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 2018. That performance, once funded, will be co-presented by Joe's Pub. Directed by Sklar-Heyn (Broadway: Associate Director, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables; Production Supervisor, The Phantom of the Opera) and music directed by Kissel (Broadway: The Visit, Leap of Faith, Conductor/Musical Director of Chicago National Tour, The Scottsboro Boys L.A. premiere), the band is comprised of Kissel on piano, Alexandra Eckhardt (The Band's Visit) on bass and Dan Weiner (Stomp, Holler if You Hear Me) on drums.

Named for Public Theater founder Joe Papp, Joe's Pub at The Public opened in 1998 and plays a vital role in The Public's mission of supporting young artists while providing established artists with an intimate space to perform and develop new work. Joe's Pub presents the best in live music and performance nightly, continuing its commitment to diversity, production values, community and artistic freedom. The organization also offers unique opportunities like New York Voices, an artist commissioning program that provides musicians the resources and tools needed to develop original theater works. Commissioned artists have included Ethan Lipton, Toshi Reagon, Bridget Everett, Allen Toussaint and more. In 2011, the Pub received a top-to-bottom renovation, leading to improved sightlines, expanded seating capacity and a new menu from acclaimed Chef Andrew Carmellini. With its intimate atmosphere and superior acoustics, Joe's Pub presents talent from all over the world as part of The Public's programming downtown at its Astor Place home, hosting approximately 800 shows and serving over 100,000 audience members annually.
