ABOUT TIERNEY SUTTON: A 5-time Grammy Nominee, Tierney Sutton is often described as "a singer's singer" but just as often, she is described as a "musician's singer" who uses her voice like an instrument. Spanning over 20 years of collaboration, the Tierney Sutton Band's 9 CDs have consistently topped the US jazz charts, leading to Tierney's selection as Jazzweek's Vocalist of the Year as well as to numerous other accolades in the music world. In addition to four consecutive Grammy Nominations for Best Jazz Vocal Album, The Tireney Sutton Band's most recent CD, American Road, was also awarded a nomination for its collaborative arranging, putting The Band's work alongside arrangements written for Sting, Barbra Streisand, Tony Bennett and Queen Latifah. She has headlined in recent years at The Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and Jazz At Lincoln Center. She can also be heard on film and television soundtracks including The Academy Award-nominated film The Cooler as well as on television commercials (BMW, Green Giant, Yoplait Yogurt, Coke). When she is off the road, Tierney is an active educator. She taught for over a decade at USC's Thornton School of Music and is currently the Vocal Department Head at The Los Angeles Music Academy in Pasadena, California where she has created a new curriculum for vocalists of all genres. Tierney has taught and mentored some of music's finest new generation of singers including Gretchen Parlato and Sara Gazarek. Tierney's latest CD, After Blue, is an intimate, jazz-inspired re-imagining of the legacy of Joni Mitchell. The album, which is Sutton's first solo outing without the Tierney Sutton Band, features Al Jarreau, Hubert Laws, Peter Erskine, Larry Goldings, and The Turtle Island Quartet.

ABOUT MARK SUMMER: Cellist Mark Summer is a founding member of the two time Grammy winning Turtle Island Quartet. He is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music where he was a student of former principal cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra, Stephen Geber. Summer was a tenured member of the Winnipeg Symphony from 1981-1984, before leaving the orchestra to perform in several Canadian contemporary and Baroque ensembles, as well as his own group, The West-End String Band. Mark went on to perform with the

Chamber Symphony of San Francisco, the Oakland Symphony, Oakland Ballet, and the contemporary music ensemble, Earplay. He has published several pieces for solo cello, one of which, "Julie-O," has been performed by cellists all over the world, and was recently featured on two episodes of NBC's Parenthood. He has recorded numerous motion picture soundtracks and performed and/or appeared on albums with singers Linda Ronstadt, Toni Childs, guitarist Jeff Tamelier of Tower of Power, saxophonist Kirk Whalum, and guitarist Will Ackerman.

ABOUT SERGE MERLAUD: Serge Merlaud is a guitarist whose music reflects various musical worlds. His first training was parallel study of jazz guitar with Jean-Marie Pallen and classical guitar with Marie Solies at The Conservatory in Paris's 11th arrondissement. Although he has worked primarily as a Jazz guitarist, he has also continued his passion for classical guitar as a teacher, lecturer and composer. Known especially as a sublime accompanist for singers, Merlaud continues to work with numerous vocalists including: Marc Thomas, Sara Lazarus, Isabel Carpentier, Roger Letson, Laura Littardi, and Tierney Sutton. In the winter of 2012, Merlaud recorded in France with Tierney Sutton and Bassist Kevin Axt. The CD, which includes classic Jazz ballads, bossa novas and Merlaud's own unique compositions, will be released in 2014. Two songs from these "Paris Sessions" were included in Tierney Sutton's 2013 Grammy-Nominated After Blue project which also features Peter Erskine, Hubert Laws, Al Jarreau, Larry Goldings and The Turtle Island Quartet.
