54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents The Songwriter's Orchestra in their debut performance on 2/28/15. The Songwriter's Orchestra is an ensemble of 11 orchestral musicians that accompanies singer/songwriters in new arrangements of their songs.

The Songwriter's Orchestra is a new version of the ensemble LyricLion, which was formed at Columbia University in 2013 by arranger Solomon Hoffman. The concept for the ensemble takes songs by up and coming singer/songwriters and transforms them so the group of 11 string, wind, brass and percussion players can serve as the sole accompaniment.

The songwriters featured in this concert have each reached impressive artistic heights with their music. Shaina Taub has been called "a terrific vocalist" (New York Times) and someone who "has creativity in spades" (NPR/WNYC). She recently performed in "Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812" and is having a concert of her music in March as a part of the Lincoln Center American Songbook series. Grace McLean is a "spectacular" (New York Times) and "electrifying" (Huffington Post) whimsical jazz- pop singer/songwriter. She recently appeared in various Off-Broadway productions such as "Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812" and opened the Lincoln Center American Songbook series in January. Sarah Dooley's hit album "Stupid Things," rose to #19 on the iTunes pop charts. She was recently featured on NPR and in the NYTimes Freakonomics Blog. Olivia Harris recently graduated from Columbia University where she performed in the Varsity Show and at the University Commencement. She has also performed her music at The Bitter End, Highline Ballroom, and Cornelia Street Cafe. Kyra Atekwana is a recent graduate of Harvard University who is currently performing in "The Nomad" at The Flea Theater. Her music was recently featured in NYMF's SLP cabarets "Grassroots" and "Trailblazers." The musicians in the ensemble are top classical players that have studied at The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, and Eastman. The concert is produced by Laura Quintela.

The Songwriter's Orchestra plays 54 Below (254 West 54th Street) on 2/28/15. There is a $15-$30 cover charge and $20 food and beverage minimum. Tickets and information are available at http:// 54below.com/artist/the-songwriters-orchestra/. Tickets on the day of performance after 4:00 are only available by calling (646) 476-3551.
