The Laurie Beechman Theatre Presents Joan Rivers, Joe Iconis, et al. in August

The West Bank Café announced upcoming performances to be presented in The Laurie Beechman Theatre. The West Bank Café is located at 407 West 42nd. St., at Ninth Avenue. For reservations, please call 212.695.6909.

Since the 80's, The Laurie Beechman Theatre has staged numerous plays and hosted a myriad of live performance events. This August, the theatre will present an eclectic line-up of performers and performances, all of which will take place in the one hundred seat venue.

Please note there is a $15 food and/or beverage minimum at each performance. All major credit cards are accepted, and a full dinner/bar menu is available.

MAC Award-winning vocalist and Broadway performer Eric Michael Gillett is considered by many to be the foremost interpreter of this Broadway and cabaret composer's intricate and moving portraits of contemporary life. Cast of Thousands weaves a rich tapestry of song, as Gillett enacts the lives of the thousands of people with whom we interact every day, but may never come to know. Now, 15 years after it was first performed, Gillett returns to the material that inspired his first songbook collaboration, in an evening that explores not only songs from the original production, but also new material written by Carnelia in the intervening years. The show incorporates songs from the acclaimed scores Is There Life After High School, Working and Three Postcards, as well as contemporary cabaret classics such as Flight and Life on Earth, and new material from Actor, Lawyer, Indian Chief. The New York Times calls Gillett "An idiosyncratic, fearlessly emotive baritone. His lack of conventional defenses allows him to have a vulnerability that most male singers prefer to conceal."

Emerging Young Artists Series featuring Liz Olanoff

Legendary comedian and Celebrity Apprentice winner Joan Rivers brings her live stand-up act to Times Square's Laurie Beechman Theatre. Rivers presents an evening of her newest and most outrageous riffs on The Celebrity Apprentice, Hollywood, pop culture, celebrities, reality TV and award show fashion. A full dinner menu and bar are available, and pianist Lance Cruce plays from the time doors open until Joan takes the stage. Tickets are $40 with net proceeds going to Rivers' favorite charities: God's Love We Deliver and Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The New York International Fringe Festival (FringeNYC), the largest multi-arts festival in North America, will celebrate its 15th anniversary in August. Since the opening of the very first festival in August of 1997, FringeNYC has never thrown a benefit. That is about to change as the Alumni Association of the New York International Festival presents THE FringeBENEFITS SERIES. Beginning May 5, THE FringeBENEFITS SERIES will offer a taste of 15 of the most beloved shows from the past 15 years of FringeNYC. Every Thursday for 15 weeks, The Laurie Beechman Theatre will present a different performance, concert or reading of a different work from one of the Festivals. Casting and guest hosts for the series will be announced on a show-by-show basis.
