It's one thing to be entertained by a performer, but entirely different to be inspired by one. On Thursday, May 16th 2013 6:30pm - 8:30pm Wix Lounge (www.wixlounge.com) plays host to a group of extraordinary performers. This salon-style, variety show shines a light on some of the most innovative performing talent in the Wix community.

Inspiration Cabaret at Wix Lounge will be hosted by The Lady Aye, "Sweetheart of the Sideshow" and Noah Scalin, artist and author of Unstuck: 52 Ways to Get (and Keep) Your Creativity Flowing at Home, at Work & in Your Studio and will feature performances by Slashtipher Coleman, Kyla Ernst-Alper, Emma Gordon, Miz Stefani and more.

Following some lively and surprising performances, a moderated panel discussion and Q&A with the performers will give insight into the practice and imagination that went in to developing each artists' work.

Inspiration Cabaret is a unique evening of entertainment that inspires audiences to put creative practice to use in their personal and professional lives. Event producer Mica Scalin, co-founder of The Alternative Speakers' Bureau, (www.altspeakers.com) created Inspiration Cabaret to showcase artists, but also to put the creative practice in the spotlight, "This is an intimate and engaging experience, which allows the audience to connect on a different level with the performers by learning about how they do what they do and that creates a different kind of relationship between the performer and the audience."

Wix Lounge is located at 10 West 18th Street 2nd floor New York, NY. Tickets must be purchased in advance HERE.

About the performers:

The Lady Aye is an award-winning sideshow performer and MC, who has worked with everyone from Rob Zombie to Cirque du Soleil. She is currently working on her autobiography, Pain-Proof: Becoming the Lady Aye.

Slashtipher Coleman, storyteller is best known for his PBS special and Off-Broadway one man show, "The Neon Man and Me." His book "The Bohemian Love Diaries" will be published by Lyons Press in July 2013.

Kyla Ernst-Alper is a professional dancer, filmmaker and founder of Under One Dances (underonedances.com)

Emma Gordon is an actor and writer who lends her voice to Ruby the cat on the children's program Curiosityville.

Noah Scalin is an artist and award-winning graphic designer. He is the author of 3 books on creativity and created the webby award winning Skull-a-day project (skulladay.com)

Miz Stefani is a classically trained vocalist who has performed with Reverend Billy's Stop Shopping Gospel Choir, Dear Comrade. She is the host of Miz Stefani's House (mizstefanishouse.com).

The Alternative Speakers Bureau provides meaningful educational experiences that teach
leadership and personal development through the arts. Using art to teach these skills levels the playing field because it is outside the standard hierarchies and expectations of the professional environment, which all too often can stifle creative thinking. Our speakers are professional artists who provide practical tools for fostering and maintaining resourceful thinking in the workplace and beyond. We believe that getting to know amazing people who use creativity everyday in their personal and professional lives as artists, is crucial to understanding how to do it yourself. Because creativity is a practice, not a talent, we know that everyone has the ability to develop it. www.altspeakers.com
