The Diva Jazz Trio Debuts at Feinstein's With 'NEVER NEVER LAND,' 8/18-19

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, continues its 10th Anniversary season with the debut of THE DIVA JAZZ TRIO. Comprised of leader/drummer, Sherrie Maricle, pianist Tomoko Ohno, and bassist Noriko Ueda, THE DIVA JAZZ TRIO is the newest ensemble to emerge from the world-renowned Diva Jazz Orchestra. They will be performing selections from their debut CD on Arbors Jazz, Never Never Land. Including songs by Cole Porter ("Love For Sale"), Fats Domino ("I'm Walkin'"), Lerner & Loewe ("I Could Have Danced All Night"), Horace Silver ("Virgo") and Rodgers & Hammerstein ("My Favorite Things"). The show runs Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19 at 8:30 PM at the Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

From the drum set SHERRIE MARICLE leads her big band The Diva Jazz Orchestra her quintet Five Play, and The Diva Jazz Trio. From Carnegie Hall, she performs with The New York Pops and is also the orchestra's Director of Education. As a music director she works with acclaimed Broadway star Maurice Hines. As a teacher she is on the jazz faculty of The New York State Summer Music Festival and also runs a private drum set and percussion studio. Sherrie is the creator of The Rhythm, Rhyme and Rap Workshop for children. She is also a busy freelance performer and a published composer/arranger in both the classical and jazz mediums.

TOMOKO OHNO was born in Tokyo. After graduating from Rikkyo University in Law and Politics, she entered the Jazz Studies Program at William Paterson University in New Jersey, where she studied with Harold Mabern and Rufus Reid, among others. During this time Tomoko had the opportunity to perform with such artists as Jerome Richardson, Wynton Marsalis, Benny Golson and Joe Henderson. Tomoko has performed at Lincoln Center, Weill RecitAl Hall of Carnegie Hall, The Blue Note, Sweet Basil and The Lenox Lounge in Harlem, in addition to appearing on live radio broadcasts by WBGO and WNYC.

NORIKO UEDA is originally from Hyogo, Japan. Her musical background consists of studying classical piano since the age of 4, playing electric bass since the age of 16, studying classical voice at the Osaka College of Music where she received a diploma, and at age 19, learning the acoustic bass, which is currently her main instrument.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will present THE DIVA JAZZ TRIO on Tuesday, August 18 and Wednesday, August 19 at 8:30 PM. The shows have a $25.00 cover with $40.00 premium seats, both with a $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required.
