Drinking, dressing up in lavish costumes and partying till you drop are all considered good deeds and must-do's on this most joyous of Jewish Holidays. For this reason, the founders of four new, young and progressive Jewish organizations: Isramerica, Kinky Jews, Artists4Israel and the creators of the off- Broadway hit, 'Sex and the Holy Land' have joined forces to create CRAZY KINKY PURIM EXTRAVAGANZA, a night of fun and fantasy reminiscent of those good old days at Studio 54.
Highlights of this full out burlesque style variety show, include crazy, kinky acts such as Minnie Tonka(of the Shlep Sisters) and Ginger; both burlesque dancers, hilarious sketches with Jewish role playing, raunchy stand up comedy, fire dancing, human beat-boxing and the 'Yoga Yenata'; an 85 year old contortionist that bends herself into a human pretzel while exclaiming: "Givalt" and "Mazal Tov". Early birds will be treated to a traditional Megillah reading at 6:00pm with an open wine bar.
After the show, guest will be invited to come up to the main floor and dance the night away in a blowout party hosted by top New York & Israeli DJ's spinning some of the hottest tracks currently played at clubs throughout NYC and Tel- Aviv.
Kinky Jews, founded by Naomi Dove in 2005 is a rapidly growing, New York City based community that brings together thousands of Jews who identify with both Judaism and alternative forms of self expression. Naomi has come together with Sivan Hadari, Melanie Weinstein and Craig Dershowitz to create CrazyKinkyPurim. Hadari is the Artistic Director of Isramerica, a company of established and emerging Israeli and Jewish American artists living in New York. Weinstein served as writer and producer of the off- Broadway hit Sex and the Holy Land and Dershowitz is the founder and president of Artists 4 Israel, a community of creative individuals working together in an on-going collaborative project in order to express Israel right to exist in peace and security.
CRAZY KINKY PURIM will take place at 8pm on Sunday, February 28th at The Delancey, located at 168 Delancey Street, New York, N.Y. Tickets are $15 online or $20 at the door and can be purchased
